The Confucius Research Institute covers an area of 9.5 hectares and a building area of 26,000 square meters. The main parts of the building include the main structure, Piyong Square Academic Reporting Hall, Research Center and auxiliary facilities. It is a specialized institution for the study of Confucius and his thoughts, approved by the State Council in 1996. It has functions of academic research and communication, exhibitions of museums and cultural relics collection, information exchange and talents training, and it is planned to be the world center of Confucianism research and
communication.
